Project details

What we need
  • Evaluation of current programmatic needs and how a program plan can address them
  • Recommendations for an appropriate course of action to reach the desired objectives, including guidance on how to allocate resources and measure success
  • Plan that outlines the resources and steps required to reach short- and long-term goals
Additional details

MCAEL provides professional development for adult ESOL programs. We are creating a program of offerings for program administrators and instructors that addresses racial equity in the ESOL field and adult ESOL classroom. We are seeking a thought partner who can assist with defining program outcomes and identifying the program of offerings that address the varying levels of exposure and engagement with the topic of racial equity in our network of adult education professionals.

What we have in place
  • We currently have a racial equity strategic plan and network advisory group, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have existing programs that can integrate racial equity offerings, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $5,620 , allowing us to utilize funds to engage racial equity experts in the development and delivery of our programs. It'll also help us bring "evergreen" racial equity offerings to our community such as an online course.

Bringing racial equity programming to our network is a high priority for our organization. Establishing clear outcomes and means to measure outcomes will help us continuously evolve and improve how we will deliver our racial equity program well into the future. An expert eye will help lay a foundation for bringing high quality, relevant racial equity practices to the adult ESOL programs we support.

Testimonials

Working with Sarah has been a valuable learning experience, an opportunity for growth for our organization, and frankly...a treat. I was seeking support for developing a strategy for our racial equity programming. Starting out our ideas were scattered and abstract. Sarah's thought partnership and in-depth knowledge of tools and resources for social impact provided the structure and path forward we needed. Her collaboration style (which is a great balance between consulting and coaching) encouraged my team and I to think deeply about what impact we want to make through our programming. She encouraged us to think about how to practically provide racial equity programming while keeping an eye towards evaluating and sustaining our work. I left our time together with a strong foundation and a path forward for our team to build upon. Thank you Sarah for gifting us with your enthusiasm and expertise.

Program Strategy & Goals Project

It was an honor to support Tiffani in shaping a strategic approach to racial equity programming at her organization. Not only did Tiffani look to align existing activities and engagement strategies towards racial equity outcomes; she also considered the emotional labor of embedding racial equity into the work of the organization with a laser focus on and commitment to coalition and community. Tiffani sought, received, and offered feedback openly. Her way of approaching this work showed leadership and respect for her team, the organization, their partners, and their students. She curated opportunities for feedback, new perspectives, and improvement. Strategic plans can often be just pages - Tiffani developed a strategic plan and roll out for racial equity that is intentional, actionable, and demonstrable. Her leadership on this program situates this organization to have significant impact in her community.
